Rome Weather & Climate

Rome enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate and is a pleasant city to visit at any time of the year. The weather is warm from June to September, the hottest months being July and August with temperatures climbing to 30ºC and even reaching 40º in the month of August. Winters are mild with temperatures between 5ºC and 15ºC, but can also fall to 0ºC in the coldest months which are usually January and February. The rainy season is in the Spring, mainly in March and April and also in Autumn, which falls in September and October. Being a Mediterranean climate, the rain does not tend to last for long periods, so that even on a day of squalls, generally the city can still be enjoyed. Rome is always a pleasant city to visit!

Preferable modes of travel on the streets of Rome are either by foot or moped. Visitors can network the array of charming little boutiques or head over to some of the art galleries and museums with ease. The restaurants offer a range of cuisines, and, much like Paris, take dining seriously and serve in courses. There is no shortage of hotels in Rome, from high-end to budget-friendly. The high-end hotels in Rome offer extremely luxurious accommodations and offer easy access to some of the more notable hotspots in town. For seeing some of the historical monuments, tourists should have no trouble getting to the Colosseum, it’s a beautiful place to use up a roll of film and walk the grounds with the family, and at night, when lit up, it’s an excellent spot for dates on a romantic vacation.
No stranger to Rome is the bustling and exciting nightlife mainstream Europe is popular for. Everything from exciting nightclubs where thousands of visitors enjoy dancing and colorful cocktails to low-key pubs and bars where football can be watched, visitors to Rome have no shortage of things to do once the sun goes down. If it’s just a relaxed and romantic vacation guests are after, there are a great deal of pubs and restaurants where couples can dine by candlelight and enjoy some of the finest wine on the planet before heading off to the nearby hotel for a good night’s rest.

Visiting Rome and not sure where to stay? Try one of these popular Rome hotel districts:
Esquilino - This eclectic district is set on one of the 7 hills of Rome, just within the ancient walls of the historic centre.
EUR - The modern EUR district was built during the Fascist regime and provides the perfect contrast to Rome’s ancient city centre. Spacious boulevards run past the monumental architecture symbolic of this area, including the Square Coliseum.
Ludovisi - As you step onto Via Veneto, you will feel like being in Fellini’s celebrated film, La Dolce Vita, only 50 years later.
Repubblica - Just one metro stop from Termini Station you will find the bustling neighbourhood of Repubblica, which has something to suit every taste.
Rione Monti - One of Rome’s most central districts, Rione Monti is home to both majestic sites and small, popular neighbourhoods.
Spagna - Piazza di Spagna with its celebrated Spanish steps is one of the most renowned landmarks of Rome. Climb the longest and widest staircase in Europe and you will reach the panoramic terraces of the Pincian Hill and the Trinità dei Monti Church.
Trevi - Toss a coin in the Trevi Fountain if you want to make sure you will come back to Rome. Built in the 18th century and mixing classical and Baroque elements, the biggest of Rome’s fountains is probably the most famous in the world.
Vaticano - A quieter alternative to Rome’s bustling historic centre, the elegant Vatican district is full of history and culture.
